What a start

I must have been living in my wonderland for too long because I just realized I missed my first appointment of the year! Ah well, I better have the routine of checking my schedule book before I go to sleep. Funnily, the book is beside me all the time but these days, I don’t even give it a glance.

It’s Day 5 today. My left eyelid had been twitching quite a bit yesterday. I haven’t been on caffeine. I hope nothing’s wrong.

On Day 366

Today is the last day of the leap year!

Let’s review this 2008…and no doubt, it has been packed. Unlike any other years.

Jan 08 – start a relationship fresh

Feb 08 – proposal

Mar 08 – start a new company, only to suspend it indefinitely

Apr 08 – bought our flat, went to Gold Coast for company conference, preparing for ROM

May 08 – hired assistant to help me, but all hired were disappointing

Jun 08 – working terribly hard at the IBM account

Jul 08 – ROM, moved into flat

Aug 08 – got the biggest breakthrough in my business

Sep 08 – wrote my first e-book “The Wedding Manual”

Oct 08 – set up The Wedding Manual website, then shifted to Love Love Me Do.com, reunited with a long lost friend and ended up inviting her to be co-blogger

Nov 08 – Signed up for beading classes, did my first set of earrings, preparing for wedding dinner

Dec 08 –  Set up jewelry store, wedding dinner, in the process of business venture collaborations.

And boss said, my sales production this year is not bad, given that I only worked 3 months this year.

Hubby and I are tired of fielding the question of whether it is a shotgun and how married life is.

We are awed by the little surprises that life has in store for us and overwhelmed by the demands it can give. We also realize how small we are (and our flat) but we know we are on the right track to somewhere bigger (and house).

It was about finances last year. This year, it is about relationships and following the calling, developing the fundamentals for the bigger things. This year, I must have been evolving pretty fast. And kinda growing fat too…

I am happy, I must say.

When there’s a first, there’s always a second.

Gracefully Glamorous

Gracefully Glamorous

The wires were just too much for my liking yesterday. So today, it is just slotting down a stick. Now I am pondering hard if I want to attend a certificate course at JDMIS. Should I??? How is my life path forming up?

There’s always a first.

my first attempt at making earrings!

Life like a piece of Lana cake

I am bitchy this morning. When I woke up, I saw one missed call and 2 messages on the phone. Not a good start. The call came from a client who summoned me like his subordinate, the 2 messages came from some mishaps about somebody else missing an email. That was shortly followed up by another call from another client who thought I could give some free advice (again). More messages were exchanged about the mishaps of a missed email and I finally put my foot down. No more nice Ms Clarie. She is in a “Come near me, and I’ll bite your head off” mode.

I guess my face was so black that The Husband gave me some kisses and beat a hasty retreat.

I shovelled down 3 pieces of Lana cake which sorta save the day. I’ve never eaten it my whole life before and it’s so marvellous that I wonder what those criticizing reviews are about. Maybe the service was so distasteful that it mars the judgements.

Nevertheless, it’s a Monday, yet again.

Moodily drinking my coffee.

It feels so …

…eery, disgusting, sad, “omg”, heartwrenching as I am writing now.

All because I had the nerve to read the financial news to know that DOW has fallen below 9,500 now, that Indonesia had to resort to suspending the stock exchange, that the UK banking system might fail soon, that people are pointing fingers at Fed for allowing Lehman to fall, that it is expected that some airline companies are expected to fold next year etc.

RBS has gotten into the negative highlight for its huge drop in stock value. The last time I saw RBS was during F1 where it is a major sponsor.

Property market is going to lag 6 to 12 months behind stock market and so it means, by end 2009, many private homes after TOP, are going to be let out for discounted pricing. Tenants would be difficult to come by, rental yield would drop. The speculated demand driven by IR will crash in the face of reality.

Why all these now? A better question is, why are we going in cycles? Why do we need to go through a major crisis every couple of years? Wasn’t the 1997 Asian financial crisis enough? Wasn’t the Latin American crisis enough? Events like 9/11 attacks and SARS have brought enough economic damage too. Why haven’t we learnt something to put an end to cycles?

A human life is so akin to the economics of the world. An unconscious live goes through cycles, suffers the happiness, sadness, joys and disappointments periodically so much that it’s predictable what’s next. The economics of the world is just as unconscious.

I feel sick in the stomach when I see the current news. There is a sudden wave of sadness as I absorb the negativity. Why do we have to go through all these again? With every quantum leap we take forward, we also take 2 quantum leaps back.

I don’t see it as a step to improvement. Maybe a step to change of platform but I wonder if it is even considered the evolution of the economic system. From a centric system, we have developed the capitalist system and its varying degrees of market competitiveness. With an ongoing cycle of economic crises, at this rate of companies folding, recapitalization by governments, we seem to be going back to the centric system.

Bite the dust…

It’s all about The Money

FBI is investigating mortgage frauds in Lehman, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mae and AIG.

China’s melamine containing milk products have been found in even more products now, even in Singapore.

So much greed turning the world upside down. Sooner or later, human greed will kill the world.

Very luxurious

I saw black chryslers cruising our streets…I gaped because they are cabs! Chrysler Cab! First, it was Hondas, Mercedes, then it was Camrys, now Chrysler???

Anyway, what was the fuel levy about since some taxi company in Singapore seems to think that Chrysler fuel consumption is ok for cabs?

Or mybe because F1 is coming. Where we have hundreds(?) of floodlights lighting up the streets at night. Energy conversation huh…

Nothing is Impossible

It means in every sense of the world, in positive and negative, in believable and unbelievables.

I recall how Lin commented that there’s really nothing that a person cannot do. When the time comes, just do it. And somehow you gotta be so amazed that you can do it after all.

The Husband has been pretty tired out by work these days. So our newly bought printer from Comex had been lying around, uninstalled. I thought, heck, go ahead and try install it myself.

Yeah, I went for the installation-made-easy guide. Hey, idiot proof and I love pictures!

And it worked. Tada! A successful double-sided, color printout was born.

A pat on the backfor myself.

Make Your Dream Come True

I was browsing MPH today and gravitated to the self-improvement section.

I saw a familiar book, Pick Me Up.

It’s familiar because I contributed an article too (find near the end of the book). You might find it familiar too because it was on news, radio etc some time back. Made quite a wave. I helped sell some. And still have a couple of books unsold in my hands, for which I’ve paid for it already.

Pick Me Up is about…

We struggle to breathe and we fight to survive. We want to get out of our problems. Sometimes, the battle is long, giving up seems to be an easy way out- then we lead ourselves to believe it is impossible to get past them.

Yet a group of people never gave up working on their lives. They dream and follow their dreams. And their courage, love, and discipline help them create their fulfilling lives.

From money, career, relationships, performance, these people have created results for themselves. This book is about the simple truth that they want to share with all on how it is possible to start creating the seemingly impossible and start living your dreams again!”

2nd edition of this book is selling at S$19.90 at MPH, Borders, Kinokuniya stores. It is also available for sale via the internet.

I have the 1st edition, 5 copies. And I am giving it away FREE with postage, to whoever drops me a comment, telling me YOUR dream.
