My Shoe Break-Through

August 25, 2008 · 4 Comments

Having moved into the new house and with an unconventional shoe rack, I thought I should honor the occasion by buying a new pair of shoes! Anyhow, one of my close friends’ wedding is coming up and I am going to be her bridesmaid…yada yada, ok fine, I really wanted a pair of new shoes. =P

I was loitering around The Stage, at the 50% discount corner, until I gave up on getting something that suits my large, too-long-toes feet. Then I browsed Nine West and immediately *heart* this. I’ve never had shoes like this before. Wait till sis sees this!

Repeat Baking Attempt 1

August 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The Husband liked the first cake so much that he has been asking to bake it again. So while he was fixing our newly bought Rakku shoe wheel, I took the chance to bake it ALONE for once. All was going well and the delicious waft of chocolate smell floated everywhere in the house. I even found the cake rise better this time. Until The Husband peered at the oven and remarked, “How come the mode is “toast”?”

Argh, I used the toast function for my breakfast some days back and forgot to turn it back to the bake function.

Anyhow, the top was cracked after 20 minute worth of toasting. But it still tastes good.

Heed the calling

August 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I noticed something. The vendors I engaged for my wedding stuffs, including shoes, gowns and rings – their first degrees were everything but the things they are doing now.The jeweller has a degree in Computer Science. The shoe-maker has a degree in Economics. The gown designer has a degree in Engineering.

Then I also notice something about myself. Somehow I am looking to being more attuned to being feminine by exploring DIY T-shirts, jewellery designs, baking and even considering perfume making class. And I have a degree in Psychology and still in the midst of a CFA certification.

Perhaps a burnout could explain. But I have the feeling that a burnout accelerates evolution. Somehow, they caught a glimpse of consciousness, a state of awareness where they suddenly see and hear things as they are. A flower is seen as a flower with its vibrancy of colours and textures. The road is seen, heard and felt as it is. Suddenly, they don’t hear their worries in the head or see the road as a means to getting to the destination. Everything is as of now. Clarity comes over them and the internal calling is finally obvious. It has nothing to do with social conventions or approvals. Even the sky is not the limit.

How long they maintain this state of consciousness is another matter. It is not easy to maintain this state in our world of unconsciousness. I see myself slipping into the grips of egos from time to time. An initial success in the career of a designer can lead to a demise if the route of designing is starting to feel like it is a means to the end. Notice how people can rise to become stars and then fall out of grace.

For a glimpse of consciousness is not sufficient.
