Make Your Dream Come True

August 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I was browsing MPH today and gravitated to the self-improvement section.

I saw a familiar book, Pick Me Up.

It’s familiar because I contributed an article too (find near the end of the book). You might find it familiar too because it was on news, radio etc some time back. Made quite a wave. I helped sell some. And still have a couple of books unsold in my hands, for which I’ve paid for it already.

Pick Me Up is about…

We struggle to breathe and we fight to survive. We want to get out of our problems. Sometimes, the battle is long, giving up seems to be an easy way out- then we lead ourselves to believe it is impossible to get past them.

Yet a group of people never gave up working on their lives. They dream and follow their dreams. And their courage, love, and discipline help them create their fulfilling lives.

From money, career, relationships, performance, these people have created results for themselves. This book is about the simple truth that they want to share with all on how it is possible to start creating the seemingly impossible and start living your dreams again!”

2nd edition of this book is selling at S$19.90 at MPH, Borders, Kinokuniya stores. It is also available for sale via the internet.

I have the 1st edition, 5 copies. And I am giving it away FREE with postage, to whoever drops me a comment, telling me YOUR dream.

Leave me your email for contacts.

Quick! What are you waiting for? For your dream to disappear???

Firm and Lift up!

August 27, 2008 · 2 Comments

I am a bit obsessed with skin firming and facial lift. I blame it on my skin doctor. I’ve been going to her for a year already to get some professional help for my super oily and blotchy skin. Ever since she did a Mesobotox on me, not only has the oil reduced substantially, the pores look half their usual size, my face looks more shapely too. Alas, she said the effects could last 3 months. How can I stand not having that shapely face after 3 months??? It’s “addictive” treatment…

It’s kind of eerie to keep relying on drugs to keep that beautiful face. So I’ve been on the lookout for miracle products that produce the same effects. They must address pores, facial lift and toning. I am just so close to trying all. Help…

Vita-A-Combi 1 by Karin Herzog

Vita-A-Combi 1 by Karin Herzog

This product was newly carried by Lucky Scent.com and it promised what I want!

“At last visible results! The Karin Herzog range is proof of the evolution in cosmetology. Using an avant-garde recipe, Vita-A-Kombi cream is a formula for success. With daily use, the initial results of this cream will be an even toned complexion, closed pores and a generally more attractive appearance.

But this is only the beginning: prolonged, regular use will give the face a radiant aspect. Fine lines will fade and wrinkles will be smoothed, the contours of the face being redefined and the complexion appearing clear and glowing. Owing to the normalising power of Vita-A-Kombi cream, it is suitable for any skin type – even dry or oily skin is balanced. In this way it is completely kind and perfect, even for very sensitive skin as it has no drying effect and does not cause irritation.”

When I learnt that Ilane is staying in LA, where Lucky Scent mortar and brick shop is, thick-skinned me asked if she could help to get it. *we can start a US-SGP trading export-import for ladies*

Instant Smoother and Brightener by Freeze 24/7

Instant Smoother and Brightener by Freeze 24/7

I saw this in the Catalogue Magazine.

“Large pores looming after a long day? Use under or over makeup to fix fine lines, absorb excess oil and brighten skin for a flawless finish.”

The Husband and I were just watching the video presentation of this stuff online and we were soooo impressed by the marketing. It’s available at Stanford too, where The Husband has many friends there. I am so tempted. Argh.

3.

IS Clinical Firming Complex

IS Clinical Firming Complex

I have used up a bottle of this. This was recommended by my skin doctor. It even helps to control acne other than having firming effects, smoothening, softening and increasing collagen production. But I am itching for something with more dramatic effects.

White Chocolate Mark Sheet by Skin Food

I also came across this in the Catalogue Magazine. Touted to produce a slimming and firming effect for the face, the best thing is it is available in our town! Yeah! It won’t burn my pocket too badly too.

I am crazy right?

Directions to MacDonalds

August 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I was just msn-ing The Husband, who is on night shift, that I am hungry and craving for nuggets from Mac. It is usally kind of infuriating to hint to him that I need some pampering, that while I am fully capable of buying it online, I very much prefer him to buy for me before coming back home. After some time, he got the idea but was clueless where to buy. So much for working in town area and not knowing where the nearest Mac is. So the typical geek way is to check online. He went to this site www.gothere.sg.

And guess what.

The instructions read:

  1. It’s just a short walk away. Come on, don’t be lazy, walking is a good form of exercise. Walk to Capital Square.

Man, I feel vindicated.

Gowns amiss

August 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I am still in the midst of writing The Wedding Manual. While browsing through Style Me Pretty, I always get so envious of the way these westerners have their weddings. The photographs are perfect, the decorations are so inspiring, the colours are awesome.

Except for one thing though. The gowns look boring?

*Please* don’t hurl protesting comments… I would love to see some very unique but elegant gowns.

My Shoe Break-Through

August 25, 2008 · 4 Comments

Having moved into the new house and with an unconventional shoe rack, I thought I should honor the occasion by buying a new pair of shoes! Anyhow, one of my close friends’ wedding is coming up and I am going to be her bridesmaid…yada yada, ok fine, I really wanted a pair of new shoes. =P

I was loitering around The Stage, at the 50% discount corner, until I gave up on getting something that suits my large, too-long-toes feet. Then I browsed Nine West and immediately *heart* this. I’ve never had shoes like this before. Wait till sis sees this!

Repeat Baking Attempt 1

August 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The Husband liked the first cake so much that he has been asking to bake it again. So while he was fixing our newly bought Rakku shoe wheel, I took the chance to bake it ALONE for once. All was going well and the delicious waft of chocolate smell floated everywhere in the house. I even found the cake rise better this time. Until The Husband peered at the oven and remarked, “How come the mode is “toast”?”

Argh, I used the toast function for my breakfast some days back and forgot to turn it back to the bake function.

Anyhow, the top was cracked after 20 minute worth of toasting. But it still tastes good.

Heed the calling

August 25, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I noticed something. The vendors I engaged for my wedding stuffs, including shoes, gowns and rings – their first degrees were everything but the things they are doing now.The jeweller has a degree in Computer Science. The shoe-maker has a degree in Economics. The gown designer has a degree in Engineering.

Then I also notice something about myself. Somehow I am looking to being more attuned to being feminine by exploring DIY T-shirts, jewellery designs, baking and even considering perfume making class. And I have a degree in Psychology and still in the midst of a CFA certification.

Perhaps a burnout could explain. But I have the feeling that a burnout accelerates evolution. Somehow, they caught a glimpse of consciousness, a state of awareness where they suddenly see and hear things as they are. A flower is seen as a flower with its vibrancy of colours and textures. The road is seen, heard and felt as it is. Suddenly, they don’t hear their worries in the head or see the road as a means to getting to the destination. Everything is as of now. Clarity comes over them and the internal calling is finally obvious. It has nothing to do with social conventions or approvals. Even the sky is not the limit.

How long they maintain this state of consciousness is another matter. It is not easy to maintain this state in our world of unconsciousness. I see myself slipping into the grips of egos from time to time. An initial success in the career of a designer can lead to a demise if the route of designing is starting to feel like it is a means to the end. Notice how people can rise to become stars and then fall out of grace.

For a glimpse of consciousness is not sufficient.

The Keys to my Heart

August 22, 2008 · 3 Comments

If I am still single, I would date guys who can identify the keys to my heart. Luckily for The Husband, he didn’t have to do it the hard way.

The Keys: Food, Jewelleries and Fireworks.

I *heart* fireworks so much. When The Husband first asked me to be his girlfriend, it was under the New Year’s fireworks at Esplanade. Sweet guy wanted to pop the question at the stroke of midnight. Alas, the fireworks were so beautiful that I told him to not talk until the firework’s over. Till now he complains that he had to wait 26 minutes before I averted my attention to him. And I was tearing, not because of his proposal but because of the fireworks!

It is with very intense presence whenever I watch the fireworks. Emotions engulf me.

Sparkle Thots

August 22, 2008 · 1 Comment

To be very truthful, I am a sucker for diamonds. Not that I believe it is a girl’s best friend, but I am in love with the sparkling gleaming look. The Husband gave me a Gabrielle diamond as engagement ring which till today, I can just stare at it throughout the entire bus journey ride of an hour. While I always kid him to give me 1-carat Gabrielle in our anniversaries to come, it seems too much money to invest in a piece of carbon.

Recently, the pearl necklace The Husband gave me decided to go on strike. The pearl came off for the 2nd time! Stashing it away in my bag for repairs, my neck has been feeling kind of empty.

Until I saw Ruth’s Sparkle Thots. I fell in love again. For a person who never like cosmetic jewelleries, Ruth must have done something fantastic to make me buy her creations. Best thing is, she was holding a promotion in the name of Olympics. Free shipping! And so … I got these … (turnaround time was so fast! I ordered on Tuesday and the stuffs were delivered by Thursday of the same week.)

I thought I could wear this for Yvonne's wedding

It matches a dress I bought from FOND
